Pimento Fine Art at Olive PR Solutions, Inc. is proud to announce the opening of “Duality”, the balance of dark and light within, a two-part exhibition by local artist Jill Joy. “Part I:  The Dark” will be on display from now until March 31. The bold strokes of black and red give you insight into the chaotic darkness and passion that lies deep within Joy. “Part II:  The Light” will be on display from April 1 to May 27. In this series, you will see love and light reflected by her inner peace.

The public is invited to join us for an opening reception of Part I on Thursday, February 24 from 6pm to 8pm.

The opening reception for Part II is scheduled for Thursday, April 21 from 6pm to 8pm.

Joy’s inspiration stems from her personal growth, spiritual evolution and the natural world. “Duality” provides an insight to her innermost feelings and experiences, both the heart wrenching and the uplifting. “Part I: The Dark” exposes emotions such as grief, betrayal and loneliness, whereas “Part II: The Light” explores opposite extremes such as hope, anticipation and elation.

“I seek to render the unseen worlds of emotional and subconscious experience into visible imagery. My work is an effort to evolve my own consciousness and the consciousness of the viewer,” said Joy. “My goal is to express the trials of human existence, both the dark and the light, and to provide a gaze into the inner world of the soul.”

Joy is a self-taught artist who began painting in 1993. After growing up in Hawaii, Arizona and Massachusetts, she moved to New York and now resides in San Diego.
